While a reminder was unnecessary, the Department of Energy (DOE) has announced investments of $325 million in battery projects with the potential of providing solar and wind energy on a twenty four hour basis. This is the latest in a long line of efforts to create a wide application battery innovation. The last battery innovation of this kind occurred 125 years ago. This announcement sounds more like a eulogy for the fallen than a tribute to progress.
