Private Equity Admits Falling Returns: The Big Point

SuperReturn Berlin was held on June 3.  Senior private equity executives took the occasion to admit the obvious: private equity fund returns are declining.  Funds hold over $3 trillion of portfolio companies, many of which were acquired in 2021 and 2022 at high valuation multiples fueled by low interest rates.  It was an extraordinary understatement to claim that returns would fall.
