EV Maker VinFast Hits The Brakes On Its U.S. Factory Plans: The Big Point

VinFast, a Vietnam-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has delayed the planned opening of its first U.S. factory by three years.  It has shifted its capital resources to shorter-term opportunities.

The near-term growth prospects for the global EV markets have disappointed expectations.  The company lowered its 2024 sales target by twenty percent, to eighty thousand units from its original one hundred thousand vehicle goal.

VinFast has not been alone.  Many manufacturers, including Ford, General Motors, Volkswagen and Tesla, have reduced their EV sales forecasts for the year as well.
