According to Bloomberg, negotiations between the USMX, which represents the ocean carriers and terminal operators, and the International Longshoremen’s Association have reached an impasse. The current collective bargaining agreement expires on September 30. Any strike or action that would limit or prevent cargo operations at the ports involved, namely all ports on the East Coast and Gulf of Mexico, would exacerbate transportation inflation.
