It is a well-worn refrain that presidential candidates campaign with poetry but govern with prose. The business of the federal government is much too complicated for solutions based on slogans. The widespread panic by democrats and executives alike over Trump’s pledge to deport ten million immigrants who entered the United States illegally is a good example. The labor supply will not be decimated by the Trump administration. Mass deportations are an impossibility due to enforcement and judicial capacity constraints.
