Red Sea Risks Are Being Mitigated, Not Eliminated: The Big Point

The challenges of mitigating political risk were on display in the Red Sea yesterday.  Despite efforts led by the United States to reestablish shipping through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, it took less than two weeks for its effectiveness to be called into question courtesy of a foiled terrorism attempt over the weekend.

Maersk paused its use of the Red Sea one week after resuming voyages through the Suez Canal.  This cessation merely required an unsuccessful attack by the Houthi militants on a Maersk container ship yesterday.
